MARINA GUIRGUIS
Creative, driven. and passionate, I’m drawn to learn more about how users interact with and utilize public space and technology. I care deeply about designing helpful interfaces, tools, and products that are designed to reflect the needs of the user. With over five years in urban planning and design, two years in interior design and retail operations, and personal experience in UX/UI and graphic design, I excel at planning and developing user-centered solutions and tools that improve quality of life through innovative design in various applications.
In February of 2021, a dear friend of mine finally convinced me to get my hearing checked. I had been dismissing his idea for months, often telling him my hearing wasn’t that bad. He insisted that someone as loud as himself is not often asked to repeat himself the way he is asked by me. After the administration of my hearing test by my audiologist, he let me test drive a pair of hearing aids. My world changed. I was beaming with joy, sobbing happily exploring the aisles of Costco with my new hearing, suddenly now aware to how much I couldn’t hear before. My moderate to severe hearing loss opened my eyes to a realm of accessibility I had not previously considered. As someone who uses modern hearing aid technology, I often encounter with problems on my designated app and my earpieces. From shaky Bluetooth connections, misadjusting to the noises around me, and an interface with plenty of room for improvement, modern hearing aid technology and the apps on our phones that control them still have a long way to go.
I want to solve problems using my unique skills, talents, and personal background. I aim to create a better experience for users indifferent applications, focusing on creative design solutions. I am passionate and excited for leadership, independent, and team-work opportunities as I have experience handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Would I be a good addition to your team? Let's connect!
